Smart SMS works entirely on your device. It does not collect,
transmit, sell, or share your personal data with us or any third party. There are
no servers, no user accounts, no analytics, and no advertising.
1. Who this policy applies to
This policy applies to everyone who installs and uses the Smart SMS Android app. If you
set Smart SMS as your default SMS app, it becomes responsible for handling your text
messages on your device.
2. Information the app accesses
To function as a messaging app, Smart SMS needs access to the following on your device.
This information is processed locally on your device only and is
never sent to us or any external server.
Text messages (SMS/MMS). The app reads, receives, sends, and stores
your messages so you can view conversations, send replies, search, categorize, back up,
and manage them. Message content is also analyzed on-device to sort messages into
categories (for example Personal, Transactions, OTP) and to detect one-time passcodes.
Contacts. The app reads your contacts to show a saved contact's name
instead of a raw phone number and to let you pick a recipient. This is used only for
display and is not copied off your device.
Phone and SIM information. On dual-SIM devices, the app reads basic
SIM/subscription information so it can show and send messages on the correct SIM.
Notifications. With your permission, the app shows notifications for
new messages.
Biometrics / device lock. If you enable App Lock, the app uses your
device's biometric or screen-lock authentication to unlock the app. The app never sees or
stores your fingerprint, face, PIN, or password — authentication is handled entirely by
Android's secure system.
3. How your information is used
Your information is used solely to provide the app's features on your device, including:
viewing and organizing conversations, sending and scheduling messages, replying, searching,
showing contact names, one-time-passcode detection and copying, blocking senders, trash and
auto-clear, and creating encrypted backups. All of this happens locally.
4. Data storage and security
Your messages are stored in Android's standard system SMS storage on your device.
App settings and lists (such as trashed, blocked, and starred items) are stored in the
app's private storage on your device.
Backups you create are encrypted using a key held in your device's
hardware-backed Android Keystore. Because that key never leaves your device, a backup file
can only be restored on the same device. If you enable App Lock, the app also prevents its
contents from appearing in the app-switcher preview and blocks screenshots.
The app's data is excluded from Android cloud backup and device-to-device transfer.
5. Data sharing and disclosure
We do not collect your data, so we have nothing to sell or share.
Specifically:
The app contains no analytics, tracking, or advertising software.
The app does not send your messages, contacts, or any personal data to
us or to any third party.
The app does not require an account and does not ask you to sign in.
The only time message content leaves the app is when you choose to send a
text message (delivered through your mobile carrier's normal SMS network, like any SMS app) or
when you choose to export a backup file or share content to another app.
6. Data retention and deletion
Because all data stays on your device, you are always in control:
Delete individual messages or conversations at any time from within the app.
Uninstalling Smart SMS removes the app's private data and its encryption key. (Your text
messages themselves live in Android's shared SMS storage and may remain available to another
SMS app you set as default.)

8. Children's privacy
Smart SMS is a general-purpose messaging utility and is not directed at children under 13.
The app does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted at this same
location with an updated "Effective date". Continued use of the app after an update means you
accept the revised policy.
